CONCRETE FOR CHRIST First Evangelical Covenant Church 6024 ‘L’ Street Lincoln, Nebraska 68510 402-489-8869 firstcovenant@windstream.net Go to build, but expect to grow! Go to witness, but expect to be blessed!
Dear Fellow Servants of Christ, Concrete for Christ, the Mexico Mission Adult Work Tour has traveled to Reynosa, Mexico for many years repairing, building, painting, distributing food/New Testaments, and doing what is needed to help churches in the Reynosa, Mexico area. We also regularly work at Pilar de Esperanza orphanage. We plan to leave from First Evangelical Covenant Church, Lincoln on Friday, February 19 and return Saturday, February 27. Primary opportunities to minister to our brothers and sisters in Mexico will be projects to help with building and maintenance. Plans also include distribution of food and New Testaments. Tentative work projects are in the planning stage. As always there is more to do than time to do. So please pray that we use our resources and time wisely . We need kitchen workers, electricians, plumbers, carpenters, sheetrockers, painters, seamstresses. If you are a willing worker, God can use your abilities. ***A passport is required this year*** If you do not already have a passport, you can complete the paperwork at any county clerk’s office. Please call them for details. You can print the application at http://travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738.html to help you know what info is needed. If you do not have internet, but need to know what information is required, please call the clerk of court or Kronbergs. The cost for a passport card (only valid for travel to Canada or Mexico) is $40, the cost of a passport book is $100. It takes 1-2 months to get your passport, so keep this in mind! Passport pictures can be taken at Walgreens or Walmart. Registration Fee: $350 $150 deposit due Feb 1 $200 due Feb 14 For those unable to make the trip, participation is still possible. · Pray - pre-trip planning, travel safety, team unity and cooperation, work project skill and safety, team health, finances, receptiveness to the gospel, good Christian fellowship. Going without God seems rather pointless. · Construction and repair, wiring, plumbing, painting, etc all require materials. Please consider giving to this mission project as a church and as an individual. We’ve set the 'materials' budget at $8000 . · We often have willing workers who request help with the registration cost ($350). If you cannot go personally, you may want to help with the expenses of someone who can work but does not have the money available for their own registration. · We also distribute food (basics like flour, sugar, corn meal and rice) and Spanish New Testaments to Mexicans in poor areas of Reynosa. The New Testaments have been donated and the food distribution budget is set at $600. · The orphanage is in great need of work and operating funds. The budget has been set at “whatever we can raise for them” before going.
As you can see, an undertaking of this nature involves many: God, workers, prayer warriors, and donors. We appreciate the help you can give. All donations are tax deductible and a receipt/trip summary will be sent upon our return. Checks should be made to First Evangelical Covenant Church (memo: Concrete for Christ) and mailed to 6024 'L' Street Lincoln, NE 68510. If you have questions, please contact:
