UNITE (formerly known as CHIC) is a tri-annual youth conference that our high school students attend in Knoxville, Tennessee. Since 1956, the name “CHIC” in the Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC) has been associated with significant moments of decision in the lives of thousands of teenagers. As well, it has fully embodied Covenant youth ministry values. For many Covenanters, the name CHIC brings to mind a moment in life when God captured them and set them on a trajectory to more intentionally follow Jesus.
As we recognize the rich history and impact this movement has had in the Covenant Church, we are also sensing a call for a change in this season.
So we are calling all Covenant churches to gather the younger generation of teenagers together at this unique moment in time to Unite around the purposes of God—which is the new name for this vital movement.
CHIC has always been about community, and now, in this next generation, as we stand on the shoulders of those who have gone before us, we join together at Unite 2021.
